Flash On the Beach

Alltop, all the cool kids (and me)

Just a quick little screen recording here. It shows how to use flvmdi from the commandline. The Explorer extension I use can be downloaded from the Microsoft website, it is called 'Open Command Window here'. I find it very useful as it enables you to open a DOS prompt at almost any location.

*** UPDATE ***
I have just noticed that the seek is not very accurate with this video. I think that's because I have encoded it with very few keyframes. FYI this video is also served via the PHP method posted previously.

maybe it's just me, but I don't see the video (only hear audio) on 2 computers. Win XP and a Linux Debian machine. ... both are running flash 7 -- maybe that's it. i'll try upgrading

where does the metadata come from - all that video does is show u selecting the app and then the video and then a k flag i thought injecting metadata would envolve an xml file with certain time points that was looked into the flash - if this is poss how ??? does flvmdi - i want to inject meta data i.e. chapter poss and then have hyperlinks that will skip the play head to that time point
# Posted By oliver | 7/14/08 11:37 PM
the metadata comes from the video itself - flvmdi examines the video's properties and writes the metadata for it.
To use the keyframe/timepoint injection you need to use another commandline flag, check the flvmdi docs for details on that.
