What an 'ahaa' moment this was. A colleague showed me this keyboard shortcut and I cannot believe I didn't know about it before... We all know Print Screen (on Windows) and how you can grab a screenshot and it is automatically copied to your clipboard. But do you know what Alt-PrtScrn does? If you don't then try this: Open any application and resize the window (make it fairly small, for example a small Flash movie in the standalone Player), then give it the focus and hit Alt-PrntScrn. Now open an email and paste...

Yeah go on, laugh at me but I seriously did not know you could take selective screengrabs like this. My life has just got better (I seriously hope I am not the only one who didn't know this one). Do you know any useful keyboard shortcuts? Post them in the comments.

Win+E ---> launches Internet Explorer
Ctrl+F4 -> Closes any document inside an Application
Alt+F4 --> Closes any program and also exits Windows
Ctrl+A --> Selects all text in any document
Ctrl+F --> Pops up the search box within an Application
Win+M ---> Shows Main Desktop
Win+U ---> Starts the Text-to-Speech program (Narrator)

Hope this helps.

If you think Alt + PrtScr changed your life, you ought to try snag-it.

Perhaps the best $40 ever spent on software--you'll be amazed at what it does for screen grabs.

Bloody Cool! Will definitely be using this one...

You can save an image from RealPlayer by clicking the pause button first. You can pause a surfcam stream on Windows Media Player by first playing a music clip and pausing it. Some surfcams can be made to open in Windows Media Player by pasting the address into the web browser.Sometimes you can get the address by rightclicking on or near the surfcam screen. Lately they have gotten tricky with thier addresses.
Unfortunately using Alt+PrtScrn will not save the Windows media player image using the 'Paint program'. Please show us how to do that for "FREE" using XP Home Edition without additional cost for software, if you can.
190 surfcams to practice with can be found here. http://www.geocities.com/surfcams1/index8.html

prnt scrn for Windows Media Player and Real Player usually only works if you first turn hardware graphic acceleration off.
