I've just received the following job posting from Adobe. They are trying to fill the position of a Business Development Manager (BDM) that will support their video streaming solutions, primarily focused on the media and entertainment industry.
About 75% of the role is to directly support the sales pipeline and Adobe's field sales team calling on this industry with the other 25% taking on an evangelist role with speaking opportunities and other efforts to help drive business in general for this market. Adobe is looking for a rock star that has an in-depth knowledge of streaming solutions and FMS in particular and enough of a sales/BDM background to feel comfortable in a sales and public speaking environment. This person will not carry a sales quota. It's a field BDM role and the position is based in New York.

Position Summary:
The Business Development Manager will play a pivotal role in driving awareness adoption and loyalty of Adobe Flash media streaming video products and services within the media and entertainment industry. The business development manager will align closely with the Adobe field sales team by leveraging his/her technical background in streaming solutions and business leadership to deliver revenue and market share growth for Adobe streaming solutions and develop strategic initiatives to expand the partner ecosystem that support Adobe's streaming media solutions. The Business Development Manager will also support the core product management and marketing team as needed. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Business Development the Dynamic Media business unit.

Responsibilities include
Understand strengths and weaknesses of competing streaming offerings.
Provide consultative leadership for technical and sales activities in generating demand, during and post sales process for named accounts within the media and entertainment sector.
Research and develop prospective business partners, assess competitive landscapes and develop new, strategic partnering opportunities that will significantly and positively impact Adobe and the business unit's long term financial goals.
Maintain enthusiasm and support for existing Adobe Flash media streaming solution partners (CDN's, Publishers, Encoding partners, etc.).
Participate in creation of sales supporting materials and lead field readiness activities.
Work closely with core Flash streaming product and marketing team to ensure alignment on short and long term product strategy.
Monitor industry technology developments and standards.
Deliver compelling technical briefings for strategic customers and Adobe Flash streaming partners.
Participate in technical workshops for key customers and sales prospects.

Knowledge & Skills:
Strong technical foundation in servers and Internet technology.
Strong familiarity with video delivery technology including video codecs, network and streaming video protocols, and streaming video servers.
Technical knowledge of the Adobe Flash platform desirable.
5+ year's business development or sales experience in the technology industry with 2+ years direct experience in the video streaming market.
Capacity to effectively participate in sales process represent Adobe with a refined set of communication and diplomatic skills.
Excellence at presenting business and technical findings directly to partners and customers at all levels of the organization.
Enthusiasm for developing new partnerships and new business opportunities based on sound business case development.
Self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication, analytical and teamwork skills a must and a track record of working effectively with senior management.
Willing to travel moderately within U.S. and EMEA as needed.
Bachelor's degree required.
