With a bit of luck I should soon hold the Adobe Certified Instructor for Flash Media Server certificate in my hands. Having spent the last 3 days at Adobe's UK headquarters at Stockley Park near London and having had my teaching skills evaluated by Edward Apostol I feel confident that I've made the cut and will soon be an ACI for FMS - the first and so far only one in the UK!
Edward is a fantastic instructor and I have a long long way to go to be as effective as he is. It was clear that he has a lot of teaching experience which is something that I'm lacking. But hey, one has to start somewhere, right?

I met loads of great people at the Adobe training course, including many FVSS service providers. FMS is definitely picking up steam and many traditional Windows and Real Media webcasters are looking to adopt Flash video for their live broadcasts. Granted, there are some hurdles to be taken (live Flash video is a pretty young technology, at least within professional webcasting) but make no mistake: these guys are smart and determined to make Flash video work. We actually managed to solve one particular problem for DBee (*waves*) during a few lunch breaks. This entailed subscribing to a client side stream on the server, renaming it on the fly and opening up a way to inject data into it from another source (ie another client or data source). Think real time captioning of a live stream. I'll try and post some code snippets when I get a chance. The problem sounded a little complex but the resulting code was surprisingly simple.

So anyway, certificate (almost) in hand I am thinking of taking some small steps into the IT training space. If you or your company has a need for FMS training, be it the Adobe curriculum or a more tailored approach, then feel free to get in touch.

There's already one thing you taught us before getting your certificate, Stefan : FMS allow weird uses, even if the documentation doesn't say a word about it - so we have to try&catch the right way...

Thanks again for your fanatic help !
