Fellow developer Bill Sanders has just announced the release of his latest book 'Learning Flash Media Server 2', published by O'Reilly.
This book aims to give its readers a thorough introduction into the features and capabilities of Flash Media Server 2 by providing a step by step guide for building a variety of applications such as two way communications, streaming video and a text chat application.
In my opinion this book looks like the ideal companion if you want to hit the ground running with Flash Media Server and are looking for less of a reference than a how-to guide to actual applications - check out the table of contents here. I'll definitely be adding this book to my collection.

Stefan,
Do you know if this PDF book can be printed? I can't seem to find that info on the O'Reilly website.

Thanks,
Joe

Hi Joe,

O'Reilly is distributing this one in PDF format and can be printed. However, while I believe O'Reilly allows you to print a copy for your own use, they will not print it for you.

When will the printed version released in UK?

Hi,

At this juncture, O'Reilly decided to release it only in PDF form (unlike Rough Cuts that first come out in PDF and then are printed.) The reason for this is that FMS has a relatively small base of developers--to quote Shakespeare's Henry V-- "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers." As the base grows, perhaps they'll start releasing printed books again. In the meantime, Stefan's and Lisa's books are available in printed format!

Update to my first post...

I spoke with someone from O'Reilly and she said the PDF could be printed once. Hope I don't run out of ink!

Hi Joe,

Is that once in color and once in black & white? Or once in each?

Cheers,
Bill

I bought the PDF version of your book, just wondering if the exercises source code is available for download.

Hi Kenneth,

Yes! You can download all of the examples. Each listings begins with the download address in the PDF. Easy as pie.

Kindest regards,
Bill
