Flash On the Beach

Alltop, all the cool kids (and me)

I was just forwarded this link - and yes now I'm blushing a bit ;-) Granted, this puts a positive marketing spin on things but I totally agree that the stream looked great. I stand by my comments that it was the best live stream I've ever watched, and no I don't know what the exact resolutions were and to be honest I don't care that much. Adobe is right in this case, experience matters and this was a good one. I must be right because even my wife said so! Hopefully there will be more such events to come and we will try and push the envelope of what can be done with live Flash video.
Thanks to everyone involved.

I wish I could have seen it. Sounds like it was a great experience. So do you think the quality was related to the encoding process, or did it have anything to do with Wowza? I'm only asking because I wonder how FMIS 3 compares to Wowza, and if an encoding process like Flash Media Encoder 2 would do the same. Any thoughts?

The Adobe Flash Media Encoder definitely streams live On2 codec and can be pushed to any valid FMS rtmp path. In many ways the same solution as we saw with KulaByte and Wowza.

Richard is right, the server plays no role in video quality, it simply pushes bits forward. The quality is mainly determined at the encoding stage, however the server may drop frames if needed but it will not degrade the actual video quality. In that sense the use of a particular server does not matter to the end user.

Sorry to disapoint you but this is not a live stream. Kulabyte still don't have H.264 live Encoder... I requested a Demo but the Answer was that they still have just VP6 Live Encoder

nobody claimed that Kulabyte did H.264 live...
